The Writing Desk

Writing from the edge of the Atlantic.

Corinne Weber lives in Cascais, on the coast outside of Lisbon, where each season has a different theme of flora but all are equally beautiful. The Conch-quest trilogy is her first published series – an expression of her love of life in Europe.

"I write magic into actual places, to make them come alive. But I love to create places as well, where readers can let their imaginations run free."
A PAGE FROM THE BOOK

From Chapter One of Chasing Echoes

Gemma was up late reading her latest novel, once again willing to skimp on sleep to get to the next chapter. She knew she would pay for it at track practice in the morning.

It was the start of Easter break, so tomorrow would be more relaxed anyway, with half the team away on holiday. She closed the book with a satisfied snap, pleased with the ending but ready for the next in the series. The library would be her first stop after practice.

She snuggled under the sheet and blanket, enjoying the breeze from her open window but always needing a little weight over her to get to sleep. Her last glance at the clock showed 23:59, and she clicked off the light, closing her eyes to the darkness.

Behind her eyelids, the darkness went red for a moment, a bright flash. What the what? she thought, opening her eyes and sitting up with a start.
